Position Description
Visitor Experience Intern (VEI) serves a critical role in promoting the visitor experience by supporting Admissions, ticketing, Gift Shop, and train ride excursions. VEIs provide great customer service, maintain museum spaces according to our safety; security and cleanliness procedures; support museum activities, programs, and events; and demonstrate value for inclusion and access for all visitors.

Essential Job Functions​​

* Engage with visitors in a welcoming, courteous, and
          professional manner
* Provide excellent customer service to visitor
* Perform daily opening/closing duties throughout the depot including
          Admissions, Gift Shop, and train cars such as cleaning, restocking, 
          and preparation of materials
* Accurately process cash, credit card, passes, and membership sales
          in a fast-paced environment
* Complete Admissions and Gift Shop paperwork with great
          attention to detail

​* Accurately count in register drawer at the beginning of a shift and reconcile it at the end of a shift
* Enter information and process Admissions, Gift Shop, and ticketing transactions
* Engage children and families to maximize their experience by offering a welcoming, courteous, professional, and safe presence and environment
* Assist with execution of everyday and special events
* Act as a guide and staff support such as greeting visitors and assisting with crowd control
* Provide visitors with general information about Osceola Depot and Minnesota Transportation Museum’s locations, events, and service
* Assist with duties on train rides including the Train Ride Gift Shop and helping as a Car Host
* Participate in regularly scheduled staff meetings and ongoing trainings
* Other duties as assigned

Special Projects available to applicants.

* High School Deploma
* Detail-oriented, with strong organizational, customer-service skills, ability to work independently
* Reliable transportation

Desired Qualifications
* Undergraduate or graduate student in museum studies, history, or a related field

Work Environment
Candidates must be able to climb ladders and lift boxes weighing up to 50lbs.; sit for long periods of time; and complete repetitive tasks.

Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 5pm

College Credit Available
Internships can be tailored to meet individual college credit requirments. Interns are responsible for full disclosure of requirements during the interview process, for ensuring paperwork is given to supervisors in a timely manner, and that all required documents are submitted when due.

It is the responsibility of the Visitor Experience Intern to contact their college or university to begin and conclude paperwork to receive academic credit.
